Hubert Hurkacz ends his 2025 season to focus on rehabilitation

Poland’s Hubert Hurkacz has officially ended his 2025 season, choosing not to compete again this year as he continues his recovery from right knee surgery. The 28-year-old announced his decision on social media on Friday, marking a significant moment in his career.

Hurkacz’s Recovery Journey

Hurkacz underwent arthroscopic surgery on July 2 and has been sidelined since withdrawing from his second-round match in ’s-Hertogenbosch on June 12 due to a back issue. He has been actively working on his rehabilitation, focusing on daily routines both on the court and in the gym, collaborating closely with his team and a physiotherapist. Despite the challenges, he remains optimistic about his recovery and has emphasized that he will only return to competition when he feels fully ready at the start of the next season.

Throughout this difficult period, Hurkacz has expressed sincere gratitude for the support he has received from fans and the tennis community. His positive outlook and determination to return to form are commendable, proving that mental strength is just as important as physical readiness in sports.

As he closes the year, Hurkacz finishes with a 15-11 match record, according to the Infosys ATP Win/Loss index. Currently ranked No. 69 in the PIF ATP Rankings, he is significantly below his career-high of No. 6, which he achieved in August 2024. This setback has been challenging, but it also presents an opportunity for growth and improvement as he prepares for the upcoming season.

Fans eagerly await Hurkacz’s return to the ATP Tour, hoping to see him back at his best. With his dedication to rehabilitation and the support from his team, there is a strong belief that he will make a successful comeback. The 2026 season could be a crucial year for Hurkacz as he aims to reclaim his position among the top players in the world.
