The Wuhan Open, the last WTA 1000 tournament before the season-ending Finals in Riyadh, is set to shape the race for the remaining three spots at the year-end event. Wuhan Open Tournament Details
Main-draw play begins Monday, Oct. 6 at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre, a seven-court venue anchored by a 15,000-seat Central Court. The 56-player singles draw features 43 direct entrants, eight qualifiers, and four wild cards, with the top eight seeds receiving first-round byes. A 28-team doubles draw completes the schedule.
World No. 1 Sabalenka returns for her first event since winning the US Open. She has yet to lose a match in Wuhan, entering with a 17-0 record and titles in 2018, 2019, and 2024. The lineup also includes Swiatek, Gauff, Anisimova, Mirra Andreeva, Jessica Pegula, Jasmine Paolini, Zheng Qinwen, and Elena Rybakina. Missing this year due to injuries are Keys, Paula Badosa, Barbora Krejcikova, and Marketa Vondrousova.
With 1,000 ranking points and nearly $600,000 on offer to the singles champion, every round in Wuhan could have a major impact on the season’s final standings. This makes the Wuhan Open not just a tournament, but a crucial stepping stone for players aiming to solidify their positions and gain momentum heading into the finals.
