Tiafoe ends partnership with coach David Witt after an up-and-down season

Frances Tiafoe has officially ended his coaching partnership with David Witt after a little over a year together on tour. Witt, who has previously worked with renowned players such as Jessica Pegula and Maria Sakkari, announced the split through his social media channels this week.

Success and Challenges During the Partnership

The duo began their collaboration ahead of the 2024 North American hard-court swing and quickly achieved notable success. They reached the semifinals in Washington, made it to the final in Cincinnati, and progressed to the semifinals at the US Open. Tiafoe’s season included impressive results, such as a quarterfinal run at Roland Garros and a final appearance in Houston.

When Tiafoe and Witt teamed up, Tiafoe was ranked No. 29. Under Witt’s guidance, Tiafoe climbed the rankings, reaching as high as No. 11 in July. However, he faced challenges that led to a decline in performance, including a five-match losing streak. This left his 2025 record at a mixed 26–23, resulting in a drop back to the No. 29 spot.

In addition to parting ways with Witt, Tiafoe has also ended his long-standing relationship with Jordi Arconada, a former Top 500 player who had been an integral part of his team for about five years. Arconada took to social media to express that it was the right moment for both of them to move on, sharing his gratitude for their time together and his optimism about their respective futures.

This transition marks a significant moment in Tiafoe’s career as he seeks to regroup and refocus ahead of upcoming tournaments. Fans and analysts alike are eager to see how this change will impact his performance on the court.
