FC Nordsjælland’s boys academy has regained the top spot in DBU’s ranking of club talent development environments, making it the highest-rated program in Denmark under DBU’s criteria. The assessment is carried out every two years across seven parameters. FC Nordsjælland placed first after finishing behind FC Copenhagen in the previous cycle. It is the fourth time the club has taken the number-one position, matching its standing on DBU’s most recent list for girls academies.
Achievements and Future Goals of FC Nordsjælland’s Boys Academy
The boys academy received the maximum five-star rating for the fifth consecutive time and posted a total score of 97.0 out of 100, the highest the club has recorded. Club leadership described the academy as central to its work and credited coaches, staff, players, and parents for ongoing improvements. This season, the Superliga team finished third, with 19 teenagers earning playing time and contributing nearly 43 percent of the squad’s total minutes. The academy aims to keep progressing, in line with the values of the Right to Dream organization.
DBU’s club licensing system is designed to strengthen talent development environments and keep individual player growth at the center, both on and off the pitch. It also seeks to improve clubs’ administrative and sporting leadership to help produce more and better players for both club and national teams. The licensing ranking also determines placement in youth competitions: the top 16 clubs compete in the Ligaen, the next 16 in the Divisionen, and the rest in local leagues.
FC Nordsjælland reported progress among two partner clubs: FC Helsingør rose from 2.5 to three stars, and Hørsholm will move up to the national U-divisions next season. This upward trajectory reflects the commitment to developing young talent and ensuring that the future of Danish football remains bright.
