F.C. Copenhagen and Nørrebro United: Supporting Youth Football

F.C. Copenhagen recently visited partner club Nørrebro United to spotlight an open training program that keeps children playing while they wait for a spot on a team.

Open Training Initiative for Local Youth

Nørrebro United runs weekly sessions for children aged 6 to 9 who cannot join a local club because teams and pitches are full. The training does not require registration, giving youngsters a simple way to stay active, build skills, and be part of a safe community despite long waiting lists.

F.C. Copenhagen has supported the initiative for nearly three years and, since August 2023, has provided club coaches to help lead the sessions. The effort responds to a broader challenge in the capital, where limited pitch space and strong demand for youth activities leave many children without immediate access to organized football.

At a recent session, first-team players Magnus Mattsson and Graham Ankamafio joined in, assisted with drills, greeted participants, and stayed for autographs and photos. The visit highlighted the ongoing collaboration between F.C. Copenhagen and its partner clubs to expand football opportunities for children and young people in the local area.

This initiative not only fosters a love for football among children but also reinforces community bonds, ensuring that every child has the chance to engage in sports and develop their talents. F.C. Copenhagen’s commitment to this program exemplifies the importance of inclusivity in youth sports, making a positive impact on the lives of young athletes.
