The Danish Football Association (DBU) has secured agreements for three new regional football centers with the municipalities of Vejen, Silkeborg, and Guldborgsund, marking a key step in its nationwide initiative Hele Danmarks Klubhus. Earlier, DBU reached a deal with Aalborg, and a center in Høje Taastrup is already included as part of the new DBU Campus. In total, five of the nine planned regional centers are now confirmed.
Benefits of the Regional Football Centers
The program is designed to boost the well-being of children and young people by creating playful football environments and stronger local communities. The regional centers will act as hubs for clubs, schools, institutions, and neighborhoods, bringing together children, teenagers, volunteers, coaches, and club leaders for activities, learning, and development centered on football.
The most recent agreement in the east took place in Nykøbing Falster, while in Jutland DBU finalized deals with Vejen on June 4 and Silkeborg on June 16. Construction in Vejen and Silkeborg is expected to start in autumn 2026, with both facilities planned to open in 2027.
The nine centers are funded by a DKK 200 million grant from the A.P. Møller Foundation, with DBU contributing DKK 20 million. Across the full Hele Danmarks Klubhus program, about DKK 1.4 billion has been raised. Support comes from the Lego Foundation, Lars Larsen Group, and AP Ejendomme, while Scandic Hotels and Høje Taastrup Municipality are close partners on DBU Campus.
Regional leaders in Lolland-Falster and Jutland say the centers will bring the initiative closer to local clubs and communities, strengthen grassroots football, and support the daily efforts of volunteers.
DBU aims to complete the remaining agreements in 2026, targeting Odense, Rønne, Copenhagen, and Holstebro. Hele Danmarks Klubhus rests on three pillars: the regional centers, DBU Campus, and the club development program Fremtidens Fodboldklubber, which focuses on motivating, play-based communities to support children’s well-being and development. DBU describes the initiative as the most ambitious project in Danish football to date and credits strong partnerships for its progress.
