Lorenzo Mark Finn clinched the Giro Next Gen title by winning the final time trial in L’Aquila, sealing a week he dominated from start to finish. The Italian, who also took Friday’s summit finish on Monte Livata, delivered on his status as the pre-race favorite and ended the race in the leader’s jersey.
Final Time Trial Results and Overall Standings
The closing test covered 22.2 kilometers from Villa Sant’Angelo to L’Aquila and came after a demanding edition of the event. Finn clocked 29:03 at an average speed of 45.8 km/h. Adam Rafferty finished second, 15 seconds back, with Matisse Van Kerckhove third at 32 seconds. Aubin Sparfel placed fourth, 45 seconds behind.
Finn, from Liguria, finished the race 2:10 ahead of Colombia’s Mateo Ramírez (UAE Team Emirates GenZ), with Brazil’s Henrique Bravo Ribeiro (Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team) third at 2:35. His success makes him the first Italian overall winner since 2011, when Mattia Cattaneo topped the event under its Girobio name. Finn is set to join Cattaneo next season at Red Bull–BORA–hansgrohe as he steps up to the professional ranks.
The triumph caps a season that began brightly, with wins at the Trofeo Ses Salines in January and the Giro del Belvedere and Palio del Recioto in April, before a crash at the Tour of the Alps forced a layoff. Finn returned at the Giro Next Gen and converted that comeback into overall victory. He also adds this title to consecutive world championships, at junior level in 2024 and under-23 in 2025.
