Lyngby Boldklub has taken a significant step in enhancing its sporting framework by appointing Rasmus Anker as the new Head of Recruitment and Scouting for their academy, effective August 1. At just 30 years old, Anker brings a wealth of experience to his new role.
Previously, Anker worked with FC Copenhagen as the chief scout and recruitment lead for the U12–U13 age groups. His responsibilities included overseeing scouting for the younger ranks, which will be invaluable as he guides the continued development of scouting and recruitment at Lyngby. His objective is to create a seamless pathway for players to transition from the academy to the first team.
The Vision for Lyngby Academy
Academy director Karsten Stiig Alnor expressed his satisfaction with Anker’s appointment, highlighting the structured and systematic approach he brings to the table. Alnor noted Anker’s deep market knowledge, which is expected to drive efforts that keep the squads competitive both in the short term and for future seasons. Anker’s role is integral to ensuring that scouting and recruitment align with the club’s development principles and support sustainable squad building.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Anker views Lyngby as a club with immense potential. He is eager to apply his expertise in an environment where the interconnectedness of the academy, scouting, and recruitment is a fundamental part of the sporting strategy. Anker aims to elevate standards in alignment with the club’s new objectives.
A primary focus for Anker will be to strengthen the ties between the academy, scouting, and the first team. His plan includes establishing a clear and coherent approach to talent identification and player development, which will attract prospects to Lyngby. He believes that by providing defined development plans and a visible pathway to higher-level football, the academy can consistently identify talents that enhance the overall quality of both the academy and the first team.
As part of his initial tasks, Anker will conduct a comprehensive overview of the teams and setup in collaboration with academy leadership. He will also implement clearer processes regarding what qualities the club seeks in players, how potential is assessed, and how to ensure coordination between various departments within the club.
This strategic appointment comes with the transition of Morten Nagel, who has served in the role for many years, marking a new chapter for Lyngby Boldklub.
