U19 talents secure important 4-2 win over Randers FC in friendly

Sønderjyske opened their summer schedule with a thrilling 4-2 win away to Randers FC on Friday, playing in hot conditions. The match showcased the resilience and talent of the team, particularly as they navigated several challenges.

Young Talents Shine for Sønderjyske

The visitors were without several regulars due to national-team duty, injuries, and recovery, prompting the coaching staff to turn to a group of U19 players. These young talents stepped in effectively, demonstrating their potential on the larger stage.

Sønderjyske struck early, taking the lead after just five minutes when a deflected effort from Elias Hjort-Pedersen found the net. Alexander Lyng posed a threat from distance, and a swift break nearly doubled the advantage. However, Randers managed to draw level after a well-worked move, adding tension to the match.

On 21 minutes, Hjort-Pedersen delivered a precise cross to the back post, where Anders Bergholt finished to restore the lead for Sønderjyske. Randers pushed hard before the interval, yet Sønderjyske’s defense held firm, with new goalkeeper Berkant Bayrak producing solid saves to maintain a 2-1 halftime score.

As the second half commenced, Sønderjyske started strongly. After 53 minutes, Mohamed Cherif scored by steering the ball in at the far post, pushing the score to 3-1. However, with just over half an hour remaining, a turnover led to a rapid counterattack by Randers, resulting in a goal that cut the margin to 3-2. Moments later, Bayrak made a crucial stop, ensuring Sønderjyske remained in front.

With eight minutes left on the clock, Ebube Duru’s cross found Omran Khatar, whose header went just over the bar. Khatar made amends in the closing stages by sliding in a delivery from Tobias Klysner to seal the victory with a final score of 4-2.

Sønderjyske’s next preseason match is scheduled for July 3 at 14:00, where they will host Viking from Norway at Haderslev Atletikstadion. Fans are eagerly anticipating this encounter, hoping to see more impressive performances from the emerging talents of Sønderjyske.
