Jonas Mandix becomes the first chair of OB’s identity council as part of a new development strategy

Jonas Mandix has been appointed the first chair of OB’s (Odense Boldklub’s) Identity Council, a strategic move designed to maintain the club’s long-term direction in focus beyond the day-to-day demands of football.

Understanding the Role of the Identity Council

The council was established as part of OB’s commitment to its identity and serves as an advisory body to the club’s administration. It does not handle daily operations, but instead contributes valuable perspectives to ensure that significant decisions continue to reflect the club’s core values and overall direction well into the future.

Its remit extends beyond immediate results, encompassing issues such as the development of the club’s identity, the sporting style, and the values that should define OB both on and off the pitch. The club’s identity framework is built around two main pillars—closeness and ambition. The council’s goal is to help the organization balance these principles across short-, medium-, and long-term horizons.

Several current initiatives have emerged from, or have been refined through, this identity work. These initiatives include the establishment of the club’s identity statement, the development of a clear playing style, and ongoing priorities such as open training sessions and a robust academy on Funen. The council has also provided input during the planning of the upcoming stadium, ensuring that all developments align with the club’s long-term vision.

Club leadership views the Identity Council as a safeguard against the fast pace of football decision-making, helping to ensure that choices remain aligned with OB’s identity. A key priority now is to raise the council’s visibility and increase public understanding of its essential role within the club.

The club intends for the council to be both representative and diverse, with the goal of strengthening decision-making that will benefit OB over decades. With a chair now in place, the Identity Council is poised to enter its next phase of supporting the club’s development, focusing on the future well beyond the upcoming season.
