Brøndby IF has appointed 41-year-old Thomas Villadsen as the new goalkeeper coach for its Superliga squad, while current coach Justin Merz leaves the club to join Feyenoord in the Netherlands.
Thomas Villadsen’s Coaching Background
Villadsen arrives from Lyngby Boldklub, where he has been part of the coaching staff since 2019. The club’s football director, Julius Ohnesorge, said Brøndby has been seeking a coach who can both develop goalkeepers day to day and strengthen the wider coaching team, and believes Villadsen fits that profile. He characterized Villadsen as experienced, detail-oriented, and strong on collaboration.
Ohnesorge also thanked Merz, who joined Brøndby last summer, for his work at the club and noted that interest from Feyenoord reflects positively on his performance. The transition is expected to bring fresh energy and expertise to Brøndby IF, which aims to enhance its competitive edge in the Superliga.
Villadsen is set to start in his new role on Friday, and fans are eager to see how his appointment will impact the team’s performance and goalkeeper development moving forward.
