Flavio Cobolli finds accommodation for Wimbledon after victory over Alex de Minaur

Flavio Cobolli is dealing with more than just opponents at Wimbledon. The world No. 10 reached the quarter-finals on Monday with a four-set win over Alex de Minaur, then finally secured a place to stay after another year of housing trouble in SW19.

The Italian faced similar issues last summer when he had to switch apartments mid-tournament during his breakthrough run to the last eight at the All England Club. This time, after several days of uncertainty, his grandfather helped arrange an immediate fix, and an Italian family in Wimbledon offered a house for the rest of the week, easing concerns as he prepares for the next round.

Cobolli’s Stellar Season

Cobolli arrived in London amid the best season of his career. The 24-year-old made his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros last month, where he finished runner-up to Alexander Zverev, and he is competing at a career-high No. 10 in the ATP Rankings. With his father and coach, Stefano Cobolli, he expected to be in the tournament deep into the second week, but accommodation again proved hard to nail down.

The quarter-final now brings a meeting with British wild card Arthur Fery on Wednesday. Fery leads their head-to-head 1-0 after a straight-sets win at the Australian Open in January, a match Cobolli played while under the weather. His form has risen sharply since then.

In March, Cobolli captured his third ATP Tour title in Acapulco, used that momentum to surge to the final in Paris, and has now matched his best Wimbledon result by making the quarter-finals for a second straight year.

Cobolli has said he worked to stay calm on court and simplify his game during a season of rapid progress. He credits the confidence gained in Acapulco for helping him maintain a high level, while acknowledging he must manage his schedule and energy to keep performing at full strength. He also noted that accommodation has been a recurring off-court challenge and hopes to have a smoother plan in place next year.
