OB has named Jonas Mandix as the first chair of its Identity Council, a body set up to safeguard the club’s long-term direction and values beyond the immediate pressures of matches, transfers, and short seasons.
Understanding the Role of the Identity Council
Created as part of the club’s identity work, the council serves as an advisory group to the administration. It does not handle daily operations; instead, it adds perspective to major decisions so they remain rooted in the principles the club is built on.
The council’s remit covers the development of OB’s identity, the team’s playing style, and the values that should define the club on and off the pitch. OB’s identity framework is built on two pillars—closeness and ambition—which can pull in different directions, but the club believes balancing both can drive results over the short, medium, and long term.
Several initiatives now visible in the club stem from or have been refined through this identity work. These include the identity text, the sporting expression, and continued emphasis on open training sessions and a strong academy on Funen. The council has also contributed perspectives to the planning of the new stadium.
Club leadership views the council as a way to counter the pace of football operations and to keep strategic choices aligned with OB’s core identity. A priority for the coming period is to increase the council’s visibility and public understanding of its role.
The aim is for the council to be both representative and diverse, strengthening the quality of long-horizon decisions and helping the club build deep roots that can withstand future challenges. With a chair now in place, the Identity Council moves into its next phase, supporting OB’s development with a view that extends well beyond the next season.
This strategic focus on identity not only enhances the club’s brand but also fosters a sense of community among fans and stakeholders. By prioritizing its core values, OB is poised to navigate the complexities of modern football while remaining true to its heritage.
