FC Midtjylland’s second preseason match turned into a tight, physical meeting with Fortuna Hjørring, decided 1-0 by the visitors through a first-half corner.
Match Overview and Key Moments
Both teams opened at a high tempo, which produced a scrappy start with plenty of challenges. Midtjylland created the first attempt when Ida-Sofie Rathe shot from the left side of the box, sending the ball just over. Shortly after, Rathe reached an Andrea Jeppesen cross, drove to the byline, and aimed a cut-back toward Mathilde Kaihøj, but the pass was blocked. Fortuna then threatened with a well-worked cross that led to a headed chance over the bar.
For a spell, Midtjylland built play neatly without finding the final touch. A turnover from pressing opened a one-on-one for Kaihøj, who could not connect cleanly. Momentum then shifted to Fortuna, who forced goalkeeper Katrine Thisgaard into two saves from a left-sided delivery around the half-hour mark. Two minutes later, a sustained attacking sequence brought a corner that was converted for the only goal of the game.
Midtjylland pushed before the break but could not make their opportunities count. The second half brought multiple substitutions on both sides, giving minutes to more players and leading to a more disjointed rhythm as new combinations were tested. Midtjylland controlled much of the half and carved out openings from their press and a series of crosses, yet the equaliser did not arrive.
The match finished 0-1. Midtjylland used the outing to trial a new formation and several player pairings, while many squad members gained valuable time on the pitch.
