Julie Poulsen returns to AGF Women’s Football on a multi-year contract

AGF has made a significant move in strengthening its women’s squad for the upcoming A-Liga season by bringing back 21-year-old defender Julie Poulsen on a multi-year contract. This strategic signing follows the recent addition of Laura Guldberg, indicating AGF’s commitment to building a competitive team.

Julie Poulsen’s Journey Back to AGF

Poulsen returns to AGF after a successful stint at Kolding IF, where she made 25 A-Liga appearances last season. Her journey with AGF began in 2020, when she progressed through the U18 team and eventually earned her first-team minutes. After a productive period with AGF, she moved to Kolding in 2024, where she further honed her skills and gained invaluable experience in the top division.

Manager Søren Kiilerich spoke highly of Poulsen, describing her as a key figure for Kolding in the past season. He emphasized her strong understanding of the game, defensive capabilities, and her talent for initiating attacks from the backline. Her leadership qualities, both on and off the field, make her a vital asset for AGF as they prepare for the coming season.

In her own words, Poulsen expressed her excitement about returning to Aarhus. She mentioned feeling more mature after her year at Kolding and is eager to immerse herself in a training environment that she is already familiar with. This familiarity is expected to facilitate her integration back into the team and enhance her contributions on the field.

As the new campaign approaches, AGF will kick off with a highly anticipated local derby against ASA on July 25. Fans can look forward to seeing Poulsen in action, especially as the team gears up for their next preseason friendly against Fortuna Hjørring. With these strategic signings, AGF is poised to make a strong statement in the upcoming season, and the return of Julie Poulsen is a key part of that vision.
