Trevor Zegras has agreed to a four-year, $36.5 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers, securing a deal that averts a salary arbitration hearing. The agreement carries an average annual value of $9.125 million.
The 25-year-old forward, a restricted free agent who filed for arbitration on July 5, is coming off his best NHL season with 26 goals and 67 points in 81 regular-season games. He added six points in 10 Stanley Cup Playoff appearances. Team officials view Zegras as a central piece of both the current roster and long-term plans, citing his impact on the ice as well as his presence in the locker room and the community. Negotiations reflected a shared preference to avoid arbitration and to settle on a term both sides considered a good fit.
Zegras’s Commitment to Philadelphia
Zegras signaled throughout the offseason that he wanted to remain in Philadelphia after the Flyers were eliminated in the second round by the Carolina Hurricanes. Management said he pressed to keep talks moving and welcomed the chance to commit to a longer-term deal in Philadelphia.
Drafted ninth overall by the Anaheim Ducks in 2019, Zegras has 253 points (93 goals, 160 assists) in 349 regular-season games with the Ducks and Flyers. He was acquired by Philadelphia from Anaheim on June 23, 2025, in exchange for Ryan Poehling, a second-round pick in the 2025 NHL Draft, and a fourth-round pick in the 2026 NHL Draft. Team leaders have pointed to his growth through past ups and downs and believe the Flyers are well positioned to benefit from that development.
