With the league on pause, a number of OB first-team and academy players logged valuable minutes for Denmark’s youth national sides, with several making their first appearances.
OB Players Shine in International Youth Matches
Three OB players debuted for the Denmark U21s in a friendly against Norway. Goalkeeper Theo Sander started and played the first half, while Max Ejdum and Julius Bertel Askou came on after the break. In a later U21 European Championship qualifier, Denmark overturned a two-goal deficit to beat Wales 6-2. Sander played the full match, and Ejdum featured in the second half, showcasing their abilities on an international platform.
At U19 level, Mads Abrahamsen made his debut in a friendly against Norway, marking a significant milestone in his young career. This exposure to competitive play will be crucial for his development and future opportunities.
From the academy, both Adam Karim and Karl Kotsis were involved with the U16s. In the first of three friendlies against Turkey, Kotsis started and Karim entered after halftime. Karim then played the full match in a thrilling 4-3 win over Romania, before Kotsis completed 90 minutes in a 2-2 draw with Portugal. Their performances indicate the depth of talent emerging from OB’s youth setup.
Additionally, August Krogsgård, Frederik Abrahamsen, and Qussi Alsalhani participated in the Danish FA’s U15 Talent Center, which included an internal training match. This initiative aims to nurture young talents and prepare them for future challenges in professional football.
The involvement of these young players in international fixtures not only enhances their experience but also showcases OB’s commitment to developing talent that can contribute at higher levels. With each match, they gain valuable insights and skills that will serve them well in their careers.
