Odense Boldklub parts ways with head coach Alexander Zorniger

Odense Boldklub has parted ways with head coach Alexander Zorniger with immediate effect, citing cooperation issues and a lack of support for the club’s direction and ambitions.

Odense Boldklub’s Search for a New Head Coach

The search begins for a new head coach for the 3F Superliga team. According to the club, changes were made after promotion to speed up development, including a shift in the head coach role. Short-term goals—returning to the 3F Superliga after the most recent season and bringing fresh ideas to the squad—were achieved, but the club now sees a need for new leadership to move into the next phase.

The club stated that its identity and strategic course remain unchanged. Despite ongoing talks, there was no shared path on culture and identity, which led to the decision to end the cooperation. While the timing is not ideal, the club emphasized it would not compromise on its set course, noting that organizational cohesion had been under strain and that this was incompatible with the ambitions ahead. Sports director Troels Bech conveyed the decision and the club’s thanks for Zorniger’s work.

Zorniger had led OB since May 31, 2025. The team finished eighth in the 3F Superliga last season. This transition marks a significant moment for Odense Boldklub, as they aim to realign their coaching strategy with their long-term vision.

The club plans a brief media availability at Pitch 1 in Ådalen at 3:00 p.m. today with an update on the head coach position. Fans and stakeholders are eagerly anticipating the announcement, hoping for a candidate who can effectively lead the team into a new chapter of success in the 3F Superliga.
