F.C. Copenhagen has entered a partnership with the nonprofit GAME to offer weekly football training for children aged 8 to 12 in Copenhagen. This initiative aims to provide young football enthusiasts with the opportunity to engage in the sport, regardless of their club membership status.
Weekly Football Training for Children
Under the agreement, F.C. Copenhagen’s youth coaches will also help train GAME’s “Playmakers.” These are young volunteer role models who run regular street-sport sessions and community activities in their neighborhoods. The partners say the initiative is designed to reach more children and teenagers, make football accessible outside traditional club settings, and build inclusive communities in urban spaces. They emphasize giving all children access to quality training, particularly those who may not have the resources to join a formal club. This partnership aims to broaden participation in street football and promote a love for the game among young players.
Training is set to start in week 34 and will run every Wednesday from 5 to 6 p.m. It is free, requires no registration, and is open to boys and girls aged 8 to 12. Participants are asked to bring shoes suitable for indoor street football. This initiative not only enhances football skills but also fosters teamwork and social interaction among the youth. Additionally, the partners are working to stage two tournaments each year, which will provide an exciting platform for young players to showcase their talents and compete in a friendly environment.
Sessions will take place at GAME Streetmekka Copenhagen, located at Enghavevej 82D, 2450 Copenhagen SV. This venue is known for its vibrant atmosphere and commitment to promoting street sports.
Founded in Denmark in 2002, GAME works to create lasting social change through youth-led street sports and culture. Its headquarters are in Copenhagen, where the first Streetmekka facility opened in 2010. In Denmark, GAME currently operates 19 GAME Zones with 183 volunteer Playmakers leading weekly sessions. They run four facilities that lower barriers to street sports and culture, offer programs for children and young people with psychosocial challenges, and manage the MORESTREET initiative to support the growth of street sports and culture nationwide.
