FC Midtjylland’s U19 team beats Sønderjyske in the season opener, while the U17 team loses narrowly

FC Midtjylland’s academy sides faced off against Sønderjyske in Haderslev on Saturday, yielding mixed results for the young talents. While the U17s experienced a narrow defeat in their season opener, the U19s celebrated a comeback victory, bringing their total points to four from two matches.

U17 and U19 Match Highlights

In the U17 match, the game remained evenly contested in the first half. However, Sønderjyske managed to break the deadlock shortly after the interval. Jeppe Hedemann Schøler found the net in the 49th minute, and unfortunately, FC Midtjylland could not respond, concluding the match with a disappointing 1-0 scoreline. The U17s will be looking to bounce back as they host Lyngby in Ikast on Saturday at 15:15.

Conversely, the U19s faced a more thrilling encounter against Sønderjyske. They managed to clinch a 3-2 victory, showcasing their resilience. An own goal by Sønderjyske gave Midtjylland an early lead in the 17th minute, and Emmanuel Alase quickly extended that lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 27th minute. However, Enis Zeqiri brought the visitors back into contention with a goal just before halftime, making it 2-1.

After the break, Elias Hjort-Pedersen leveled the score for Sønderjyske not long after the restart, creating a tense atmosphere. Yet, it was Alexander Mani Gudjonsson who turned the tide back in favor of FC Midtjylland by scoring the decisive goal in the 75th minute, securing all three points for his team. The U19s are also set to face Lyngby at home on Saturday at 13:00, aiming to build on their success.
