Brøndby Stadium recently hosted the Stadionløbet community run on Saturday morning, marking the event’s third edition and drawing a lively crowd around the Fanzone. This popular event has become a staple for locals, encouraging participation from all age groups and fitness levels.
A Thriving Community Event
About 2,900 participants laced up this year, ranging from children and families to experienced runners. Entrants could choose between a 5-kilometer course or a 2-kilometer walk, ensuring that everyone could join in on the fun. The route began in the Fanzone and led through Brøndby Forest, offering a scenic backdrop for the runners. The finish line was particularly special, as participants entered the stadium via the players’ tunnel, completed a lap around the pitch, and crossed the line in front of the South Stand (Sydsiden).
Throughout the day, the Fanzone was alive with activities, including group warm-ups led by a fitness provider, which helped participants get energized for their runs. Additionally, Save the Children set up a resale stall featuring second-hand Brøndby apparel, allowing fans to support a good cause while purchasing their favorite team gear.
Proceeds from the event are directed towards Save the Children’s initiatives aimed at including children and young people in positive communities. The organization’s nationwide fundraiser is scheduled for 6 September and focuses on supporting children facing violence and insecurity, those affected by war and displacement, and those lacking safe networks. Furthermore, the club is collecting used sportswear at the Brøndby Shop for resale to benefit Save the Children; items that are not sold are sent to children and teenagers in Sumy, a frontline city in Ukraine, to help them continue playing football.
The Stadionløbet community run not only promotes physical activity but also fosters a sense of unity and support for those in need. Such events highlight the importance of community engagement and the impact that collective efforts can have on improving lives.
