Japanese company Suzuyo buys 80% of Randers FC and secures local co-ownership

The ownership change at Randers FC has been completed, with Japanese conglomerate Suzuyo acquiring 80 percent of the club. Randers FC Holding remains a local co-owner with the remaining 20 percent.

Suzuyo is a more than 220-year-old, family-owned group founded in Shimizu, Japan. The company comprises about 140 subsidiaries and employs roughly 13,600 people. It also brings close to three decades of involvement in professional football through its long-standing role with J-League side Shimizu S-Pulse, giving it experience with the community role of a football club.

Maintaining Local Ties and Future Prospects

Both parties emphasized the importance of maintaining local ownership and knowledge. For Randers FC Holding, the priority during the process was to secure a financially strong, long-term partner to support the club’s continued development.

With Suzuyo as majority shareholder, the plan is to strengthen Randers FC’s long-term sporting and commercial prospects while maintaining responsible finances, developing players and academy talents, and building a robust sporting organization. The club’s identity and deep roots in Randers and Kronjylland are to be preserved, with relationships to parent and partner clubs, fans, sponsors, and the wider business community remaining central.

Club leadership described the agreement as a way to open new opportunities while building on the existing foundation. They highlighted Suzuyo’s commitment to a genuine partnership with local owners and its capacity to support the club’s ambitions.

Suzuyo signaled that its involvement is intended as a long-term partnership and underscored the importance of strong local ties. The group pointed to its history of working closely with the communities around its businesses, a perspective it sees aligning with Randers FC’s role in its region.

Randers FC has established itself as a stable presence in Danish top-flight football, and the new ownership is expected to build on that base. The combination of Suzuyo’s majority stake and continued local co-ownership is seen within the club as a solid platform for long-term progress across the first team, the academy, facilities, and administration.

The transaction marks a new chapter for Randers FC. Randers FC Holding was advised by PwC Corporate Finance on financial matters and by Accura on legal aspects. The club has scheduled a press conference for 13:30 local time today at Cepheus Park Randers, where further details about the future plans will be discussed.
