Alexander Zverev marked his US Open triumph with a full day of media stops across Manhattan on Monday, carrying his trophy from studio to studio and greeting fans along the way.
Media Tour Highlights
He began at ABC News for an interview on the ABC News Live set. During a brief stop in the green room, he met actress Salma Hayek, who had been at this year’s tournament. He later appeared on the daytime program Live with Kelly and Mark, where he discussed the lighthearted moment when he initially didn’t realize the match was over and reflected on how winning Roland Garros earlier this year set up his run in New York.
The 29-year-old’s US Open trophy is the 26th tour-level title of his career. With two Grand Slam singles crowns, he now joins Boris Becker as the only German men to have won multiple majors. Ranked No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings, he made time for supporters gathered outside studios throughout the day.
While leaving ABC, Zverev ran into Doug Robb, the lead singer of Hoobastank. He also stopped by Bleacher Report and House of Highlights for social content, touching on what he craved to eat after the final and his preferred all-time NBA starting five.
Zverev was accompanied throughout the tour by Sergei Bubka and his brother, Mischa Zverev. This whirlwind day not only showcased his achievements but also highlighted his engaging personality, making him a fan favorite both on and off the court.
