The Spaniard lost more than four months of the season to a wrist injury sustained at the ATP 500 event in Barcelona in April. Alcaraz said his training has gone well since New York, viewing the US Open as a valuable test, and he is eager to compete in London from Friday through Sunday. This is his first appearance in London this season after the wrist issue kept him out of Wimbledon and the Queen’s Club tournament. It will also be his debut at the O2 Arena, the venue where Roger Federer retired from professional tennis in 2022.
He expects a lively atmosphere at the O2 and believes the event will deliver high-quality tennis for a packed crowd. Team World defeated Team Europe 15-9 last year in San Francisco and has won three of the past four editions, with Europe’s lone victory in that span coming in 2024. Alcaraz holds a 3-1 record in both singles and doubles at the Laver Cup and is making his third appearance.
