Brøndby IF has made an exciting announcement by appointing Kasper Lorentzen as the new head coach of its U19 team within the Brøndby Masterclass academy. This decision marks a significant return for Lorentzen, a former player and youth coach at the club, who is set to bring his extensive knowledge and experience back to familiar ground.
Kasper Lorentzen’s Coaching Experience
Lorentzen comes to Brøndby with several years of senior coaching experience under his belt. He spent over three years at B.93, where he initially joined as an assistant coach before stepping up to the role of head coach. His previous involvement with Brøndby includes working within the academy setup, where he notably served as the assistant coach for the U19s in 2023.
This recent appointment follows Brøndby’s strategic decision to promote former U19 head coach Viktor Kynde to the Superliga staff during the summer. Academy director Bjørn Holm emphasized the importance of finding a candidate who deeply understands Brøndby’s culture and can effectively integrate lessons from senior football into the development of the oldest youth players. Holm stated that Lorentzen embodies this ideal profile, making him a perfect fit for the role.
Football director Julius Ohnesorge reinforced the significance of this hire as part of the club’s ongoing efforts to strengthen the pathway from the Masterclass academy to the first team. He highlighted that the U19 stage represents a crucial transitional period before players step into senior football. Ohnesorge expressed confidence that Lorentzen’s blend of familiarity with the club and his recent coaching experience at B.93 will significantly benefit both player development and the overall U19 environment.
Lorentzen himself views this new role as a return to a club and culture he knows exceptionally well.
