Many schoolchildren in Aarhus had their first encounter with AGF this week as the club visited 11 schools across the city. Players from both the men’s and women’s teams met thousands of pupils during stops around the municipality. The aim was to bring the club closer to young fans. For many children, it was their first time meeting an AGF player, with time set aside for autographs, photos, and conversations. Pupils also received an AGF activity booklet to continue the experience at home with football-themed tasks.
Building Connections Through Football
All schools in Aarhus Municipality were invited to take part, and many accepted. According to the club’s school liaison, the initiative is meant to help welcome the youngest residents into school life and create a relaxed afternoon that blends football, community, and learning. The club notes it is seeing more very young children at matches and wants to build stronger links with pupils while adding a special moment to a regular school day.
The visits are part of a broader effort to work with the city’s educational institutions. AGF is developing teaching materials that use the club as a focal point for learning in different subjects, with the goal of strengthening ties between schools and the club and creating value for students, teachers, and AGF alike. This innovative approach not only fosters a love for football but also enhances the educational experience for children in Aarhus.
The club plans to repeat the program next year and reach more children across the municipality. The activity booklet can also be picked up for free at the AGF fan shop on Strøget in Aarhus. This initiative is a fantastic opportunity for young fans to engage with their local club, encouraging a lifelong passion for both education and football.
