Alan Tate joins Brøndby IF as the new assistant coach under Steve Cooper

Steve Cooper began his first training session at Brøndby IF today with a new addition on the touchline. Alan Tate has been appointed assistant coach, joining Henrik Hansen on the staff.

Alan Tate’s Coaching Journey

Tate, 43, is a former right back who came through Manchester United’s academy and spent the bulk of his playing career at Swansea City, where he made 340 first-team appearances. As a coach, he has worked alongside Cooper for several years, starting at Swansea in 2019 and later at Nottingham Forest and most recently Leicester City.

Brøndby’s football director, Benjamin Schmedes, highlighted the long-standing partnership between Tate and Cooper and described Tate as a hardworking, loyal leader who builds strong relationships with players and helps connect the coaching staff with the dressing room. Schmedes said the club views him as an important addition to an already strong staff.

Tate expressed his excitement for his first coaching role outside the British Isles. He regards Brøndby as a club with a proud history and recalled following the team during the 1999 Champions League group stage while he was a young player at Manchester United. He emphasized his plan to respect and build on the club’s traditions while competing to win matches and challenge for trophies.

Having received their work permits on Wednesday morning, Tate joined the rest of the staff on the training pitch for the first time today. This marks a significant step for both Tate and Cooper as they embark on a new chapter in their coaching careers at Brøndby IF, aiming to bring success and a fresh perspective to the team.

The partnership between Cooper and Tate is expected to foster a positive environment that enhances player development and team performance. With their combined experiences and understanding of the game, fans are optimistic about the upcoming season under their guidance.
