Brøndby IF appoints David Tivey as new fitness coach, bids farewell to Anders Storskov

Brøndby IF has made a significant addition to their coaching staff by appointing David Tivey as the club’s new fitness coach. The 34-year-old Englishman is set to join the first-team staff in October, bringing a wealth of experience to the role.

David Tivey: A Seasoned Coach

Tivey’s extensive background includes key positions at prominent clubs such as Swansea City and Nottingham Forest, where he worked closely with manager Steve Cooper. His experience is further bolstered by his involvement with England’s under-17 national team, as well as with the under-20s and Chelsea’s youth setup. Most recently, he contributed his expertise in France with Saint-Étienne.

The club has described Tivey as a coach with strong experience from top environments in both England and France. They are optimistic that his knowledge will enhance player development and improve the team’s overall physical performance. This strategic appointment is a part of Brøndby’s ongoing efforts to strengthen their team dynamics and athletic capabilities.

Interestingly, Tivey’s arrival coincides with the departure of Anders Storskov, who has left his position by mutual agreement. Storskov joined Brøndby in 2020 as a consultant and transitioned into a permanent role in January 2021, spending nearly five years on the first-team staff. The club has publicly praised Storskov for his contributions and acknowledged his popularity among players and staff alike.

Reflecting on his time at the club, Storskov expressed that he felt at home at Brøndby, during which he experienced both highs and lows. He conveyed his gratitude for the opportunity to be part of such a storied club.

In the interim period before Tivey officially joins, Bennet Kästner, the head of the physical department in Brøndby’s Masterclass academy, will take on the responsibility of managing first-team fitness duties. This ensures that the team’s physical training remains a priority as they transition into this new phase.
