Bryson DeChambeau has joined the U.S. Ryder Cup squad in Napa, California, this week even though he cannot play in the PGA Tour event that includes 10 of his American teammates. The Crushers GC captain traveled from his home in Dallas to take part in meetings, dinners, and other team activities as preparations ramp up for the matches at Bethpage Black later this month.
DeChambeau’s Commitment to Team Chemistry
U.S. captain Keegan Bradley has praised DeChambeau’s commitment, noting that the current split in men’s professional golf means DeChambeau often has to go to greater lengths to be present with the group. Teammates said he has been a steady presence at multiple gatherings and that his involvement is helping team chemistry.
DeChambeau qualified automatically for the U.S. team despite having only eight opportunities to earn Ryder Cup points over the past two seasons, limited to the four majors in 2024 and 2025. He is the only LIV Golf player on the American roster. Europe’s team includes Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton, who are part of the same LIV lineup.
This will be DeChambeau’s third Ryder Cup appearance and his first since 2021, when he went 2-0-1 as the United States defeated Europe 19-9. Earlier this year he won LIV Golf Korea and finished third in the league’s season-long individual standings. He had sought entry into this week’s PGA Tour field but was turned down, so he has focused on supporting the team off the course. Teammates and coaches view him as a significant asset for both his performance and his leadership.
As the Ryder Cup approaches, DeChambeau’s dedication and strategic approach are expected to play a crucial role in the U.S. team’s success. His experience and competitive spirit will undoubtedly inspire his teammates as they prepare to take on their European counterparts. With DeChambeau’s presence, the U.S. team is looking to build strong momentum heading into one of golf’s most prestigious events.
