FC Copenhagen appoints South African Romaney Pinnock as the new head of women's football

F.C. København has made a significant move in women’s football by appointing South African executive Romaney Pinnock as the Head of Women’s Football, effective 1 October. Pinnock joins the club from Bristol City Football Club, where she held the same position, bringing with her a wealth of experience and a passion for developing women’s sports.

Romaney Pinnock’s Impressive Background

Pinnock’s background is not just limited to her recent role; she has a rich history as a management consultant and is the founder of Badgers Football Academy in Cape Town. This nonprofit organization focuses on using football as a means to enhance opportunities for girls and women, highlighting her commitment to gender equality in sports. Additionally, Pinnock has completed the prestigious FIFA Master in management, law, and humanities, equipping her with the skills necessary for her new role.

Club leaders have emphasized that Pinnock’s appointment is a crucial step forward for the women’s program at F.C. København. They have praised her extensive experience in women’s football, exceptional leadership skills, and international perspective, all of which will be instrumental in the club’s ongoing efforts to establish a strong women’s team. This initiative aligns with the club’s broader vision, known as Vi er København, which aims to develop and promote women’s football within the community.

In their debut 2024/2025 season, the women’s side achieved remarkable success by winning promotion to the 1st Division (B League). As Pinnock begins her tenure at Parken, she will be focused on building upon this early success and laying down the necessary foundations to pursue further promotion to the A League. She will report directly to development director Morten Grahn, who has expressed confidence in her drive and innovative ideas for advancing the women’s game.

Pinnock is set to relocate to Denmark in September, and she views the club’s commitment to women’s football as well-recognized beyond the borders of Denmark. She sees her new role as a unique opportunity to help the team set and achieve new goals while also contributing to the growth of women’s football in Denmark. This includes attracting more participants, engaging supporters, and nurturing emerging talent in the sport.

The club has warmly welcomed Pinnock to Copenhagen ahead of her official start date, marking the beginning of what is expected to be an exciting chapter for women’s football at F.C. København.
