FC Midtjylland has launched a new strategic initiative, FCM Next Generation, aimed at accelerating the development of its top international prospects. The project brings together standout talents from the 2006 and 2007 age groups in a full-time professional environment that complements the club’s Dream99 academy and prioritizes individual growth.
International Exposure and Development
Over the next year, the squad will travel internationally to compete in tournaments and take part in training programs across different football cultures. The club has already scheduled activities in Brazil and Spain as part of the plan to expose players to varied styles of play and competitive settings.
Club leadership describes the project as a targeted effort to speed up the transition from youth to senior football by consistently testing players against global opposition and immersing them in new environments. The program is designed for so-called transition players—those on the verge of stepping into the senior game.
FCM Next Generation blends the club’s established playing philosophy with a broader development approach. Alongside football-specific training, the setup emphasizes physical preparation and personal skills, including responsibility, cross-cultural understanding, communication, and the ability to operate in international contexts.
The team has already played friendly matches against IFK Göteborg, B93, and Vejle Boldklub, recording one win, one draw, and one defeat. These experiences are crucial for the players’ growth and adaptation to different styles of play.
The long-term objective is to produce players ready to contribute directly to FC Midtjylland’s first team. According to the club, the initiative reflects a commitment to rethink the pathway for its most promising talents and provide them with the platform needed to compete at the highest level. Through FCM Next Generation, FC Midtjylland is set to redefine youth development in football, ensuring that its future stars are well-prepared for the demands of professional football.
