Swedish golf star Alexander Björk announces retirement at age 35

Swedish golfer Alexander Björk, 35, has announced his retirement from professional golf, marking the end of an era in his athletic career. This decision comes just a week after he missed the cut at the Omega European Masters in Switzerland, which was his 178th start on the DP World Tour. In a heartfelt statement, Björk mentioned that he plans to make one final appearance on the tour in 2026, allowing fans and fellow golfers to celebrate his journey one last time.

Career Highlights and Achievements

Björk turned professional in 2009 and steadily climbed the ranks through the Nordic Golf League, ultimately graduating from the HotelPlanner Tour in 2016. One of his most notable achievements was winning the Volvo China Open in 2018, a victory that propelled him to a career-high ranking of 59th in the world. His consistent performance throughout his career also saw him finishing 11th in the Race to Dubai in 2023, which earned him dual membership with the PGA Tour for the year 2024.

Despite facing challenges, including losing his PGA Tour card, Björk made a commendable return to focus on the DP World Tour. However, he has only played three events in 2025, indicating a shift in priorities. Over his career, he participated in nine major championships, with his best finish being a tie for 39th at the 2024 PGA Championship.

In his announcement, Björk expressed a desire to spend more quality time with his family and embark on a new chapter beyond professional golf. He conveyed immense gratitude to his supporters, coaches, and fans, who have been integral to his success. As Alexander Björk steps away from the spotlight, his contributions to the sport will surely be remembered by many in the golfing community.
