Bo Svensson proud of 3-0 win over Braga after a strong second half

FC Copenhagen head coach Bo Svensson expressed pride and satisfaction after a 3-0 victory over Braga in the UEFA Conference League, praising a disciplined display and a strong second half against opponents he described as high quality and close to last season’s Europa League final. He also underlined the importance of the response following Sunday’s defeat in Herning, where the team felt it could have taken more from the match.

Strong Second Half Performance

The opening half was tight and difficult for Copenhagen, who struggled at times to exploit the spaces available. Even so, they limited Braga’s opportunities and kept the game under control in a largely closed first period.

At the break, the staff adjusted aspects of the team’s play with the ball to spark the attack. An early goal after halftime shifted the momentum decisively. Midway through the second half, Braga briefly threatened an equalizer, but a potential 1-1 was ruled out for offside after a lengthy VAR review. Svensson acknowledged the tight call but emphasized that Copenhagen defended solidly overall and allowed very few chances thanks to a disciplined structure.

With a congested schedule, Copenhagen again rotated. Young players were introduced during the game, and Rodrigo Huescas made his official return after a year out. The staff’s plan included giving minutes to prospects Marvin and Hunor regardless of the scoreline, reflecting confidence in their ability to contribute.

Experience also played a role. Thomas Delaney and Andreas Cornelius came on in the second half, with Cornelius scoring twice to seal the result. Svensson highlighted the groundwork laid earlier by Dadason, whose effort helped create the opener and wear down Braga’s defense, while noting Cornelius’s positioning and hold-up play in key moments. Cornelius will be suspended for the league meeting with AGF on Sunday.

Copenhagen now turns its focus to that match, buoyed by a convincing European win and a performance that combined control, resilience, and clinical finishing after the break. The team is looking to maintain their momentum as they head into the next challenge, aiming for continued success in both domestic and European competitions.
