Adam Sykora out for 4-5 months after serious injury in game against the Devils

New York Rangers forward Adam Sykora is facing a challenging road ahead, as he is expected to be sidelined for four to five months due to a lower-body injury. This unfortunate setback occurred during the first period of Monday’s 3-2 preseason loss to the New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center.

Details of the Injury

The 22-year-old Sykora was caught off balance when he was checked into the corner by Devils defenseman Mikael Diotte. The collision caused him to fall awkwardly into the boards, leading to the injury that would ultimately keep him off the ice for an extended period. Sykora required assistance to leave the rink, a sign of the severity of his injury.

Despite this setback, Sykora came into training camp with high hopes of securing a spot on the opening night roster. He had shown promise by finishing last season on a strong note, amassing four points in 11 NHL games after being recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the AHL. In Hartford, he displayed his scoring ability, recording 29 points in 62 games, making him a player to watch as the Rangers prepared for the upcoming season.

The Rangers are not letting Sykora’s injury dampen their spirits as they continue their preseason schedule. They will face the Devils again on Thursday at Madison Square Garden and will conclude their preseason with a matchup against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena on Friday. Following the preseason, the Rangers are set to kick off the regular season on Tuesday against the Boston Bruins at TD Garden.

For fans and teammates, Sykora’s absence will be felt, but the Rangers are determined to rally together and make the most of the upcoming games. The team remains focused on building chemistry and preparing for a successful season ahead, even in the face of adversity.
