AGF will honor Danish veterans at Monday’s home match against Sønderjyske at Ceres Park Vejlby, continuing the club’s annual participation in the nationwide Veteran Match campaign. The club has invited 100 veterans and their families to the game and will use the occasion to raise support for veteran causes.
Veteran Match Tribute at AGF’s Home Game
A tribute will take place before kickoff. Five AGF players will wear shirts featuring a special Veteran Match emblem, and those shirts will be auctioned after the match to benefit veterans. This initiative is not just about football; it’s a heartfelt acknowledgment of the sacrifices made by those who have served in the military.
Veteran Match is a national initiative led by Danmarks Idrætsforbund that brings leading Danish sports together to recognize former deployed personnel and their relatives through the community of sport. The campaign is financed by Poul Due Jensens Fond / Grundfos Fonden, making it a collaborative effort to support veterans nationwide.
The 2026 edition includes 57 fixtures across the country in the 3F Superliga, Betinia Ligaen, Metal Ligaen, and the Bambuni men’s and women’s leagues, scheduled in September and October. Monday’s game is the second-to-last event in this year’s campaign. AGF will also take part in the final match next Sunday as the away side at Parken, where FC Copenhagen will mark Veteran Match. This is the seventh year the initiative has been held, demonstrating a long-standing commitment to honoring those who have served.
As the community gathers to support this noble cause, the impact of the Veteran Match campaign extends beyond the soccer field. It creates an opportunity for dialogue, remembrance, and support for veterans and their families, helping to foster a culture of appreciation and respect for their contributions to society. By participating in these events, clubs like AGF play a vital role in raising awareness and funds for veteran causes, ensuring that those who have served are never forgotten.
