AGF Women will begin preparations for the new A-Liga season on July 9, and the club has confirmed several departures as the squad is reshaped for the coming campaign.
Key Departures from AGF Women
Captain and central defender Sofie Vendelbo and midfielder Johanne Guldbæk are leaving this summer at the end of their contracts. The club describes Vendelbo as a key figure in recent seasons, noting her leadership and consistency at the back. Guldbæk, who captained AGF’s U18 DM team in 2020 when it first took the field in the club’s white kit, has since established herself as a respected and influential player, seen as a role model for the pathway from youth to senior football.
AGF said it had hoped to extend both players’ deals, but they have chosen to continue their careers elsewhere. This transition marks a significant moment for AGF Women as the club looks to build a new team dynamic.
In addition to Vendelbo and Guldbæk, three additional players are also moving on: Pernille Marie Madsen, Mille Larsen, and Veera Hellman. All three have been on the fringes of the first-team squad and are seeking more playing time at other clubs. The departures reflect a strategic shift in the club’s approach, focusing on enhancing the squad’s competitiveness for the upcoming season.
The club thanked all five players for their contributions and wished them well in their next steps. As AGF Women prepares for the new season, fans are eager to see how the reshaped squad will perform and what new talent the club will bring in to fill the gaps left by these experienced players.
