Alcaraz and Rune Reunited in Murcia: Working on Comebacks After Injuries

Alcaraz and Rune: A Journey of Resilience in Tennis

Murcia, Spain — Carlos Alcaraz and Holger Rune shared a practice court on Monday in Alcaraz’s hometown as both work toward returns from injury. The two, born six days apart in 2003, built a close bond in juniors, including doubles, and have met four times on the ATP Tour. Their latest workout took place in hot conditions in Murcia.

Injury Comebacks and Future Aspirations

Alcaraz, currently ranked No. 2 in the PIF ATP Rankings, has not played since April’s ATP 500 event in Barcelona, where he withdrew before his second-round match due to a right wrist injury. As the defending US Open champion, he is eager to make a strong return with the tournament set to start on 30 August in New York. Fans are hopeful that his time off the court has allowed him to fully recover and regain his competitive edge.

On the other hand, Rune has been out of action since last October after suffering a ruptured Achilles in the Stockholm semifinals. The 23-year-old underwent surgery and has been diligently focusing on rehabilitation. His commitment to recovery speaks volumes about his determination to return to peak performance.

The practice session between these two rising stars not only showcases their resilience but also highlights the camaraderie that exists among young athletes in the tennis world. Both players understand the challenges that come with injuries and are pushing through these obstacles to get back on the court.
