Brøndby IF appoints Martin Sahlertz as the new Chief Commercial Officer

Brøndby IF has taken a significant step in enhancing its commercial leadership by promoting Martin Sahlertz to Chief Commercial Officer after two years serving as Director of Sales & Business Development. This decision, announced on July 8, 2026, marks a pivotal moment in the club’s strategy as it aims to strengthen its commercial setup and capitalize on recent business successes.

Strengthening Brøndby IF’s Commercial Strategy

In his new position, Sahlertz will oversee the overall commercial strategy and business development for Brøndby IF, with an emphasis on achieving long-term, sustainable growth. His responsibilities encompass a wide range of areas including partnerships, marketing, retail, ticketing, customer relationship management, and digital initiatives. The objective is clear: to enhance the club’s market position and propel its ambition of becoming a leading, innovative commercial football club in Scandinavia.

The club’s board chair has expressed that Brøndby IF is setting high expectations both on and off the pitch. Recent commercial achievements can be attributed to the collective efforts of various departments, with Sahlertz playing a crucial role in this progress. The establishment of the Chief Commercial Officer role is a strategic move to reinforce the leadership team and enhance execution as commercial activities gain increasing importance.

Sahlertz has emphasized that the club’s rich history, identity, and values are vital assets in building a loyal supporter base. He believes these elements should be communicated more effectively to both current and future fans. His vision goes beyond merely hitting revenue targets; it’s about enhancing the overall experience and memory associated with Brøndby IF. This includes fostering an electric matchday atmosphere filled with the club’s colors—yellow and blue—along with maintaining a strong, consistent visual presence across social and digital platforms. Engaging effectively with fans, partners, and members is also essential for strengthening the brand.

In addition to Sahlertz’s promotion, Brøndby IF has also welcomed Kasper Sloth Nielsen as the new Operations Director as of July 1. With over 15 years of leadership experience, including a background in retail and the pharmaceutical sector, Nielsen will report directly to the CEO and take on overall responsibility for the club’s operations.

With Søren Kristensen as CEO, Martin Sahlertz as Chief Commercial Officer, and Kasper Sloth Nielsen as Operations Director, Brøndby IF has solidified its senior management structure. This newly established leadership team is poised to pursue the club’s sporting and commercial objectives, setting a strong foundation for future success.
