F.C. Copenhagen overturned an early setback to beat Sønderjyske 3-1 in the Superliga, with Mohamed Elyounoussi scoring twice and Mads Emil Madsen adding one just before the break. The match at Parken drew 20,073 spectators, and was officiated by Jonas Hansen.
Match Highlights and Key Moments
Sønderjyske struck first on their opening attack in the 7th minute. Ismail Seydi released Ebube Duru down the left, and his low cutback was finished by Alexander Munksgaard. Copenhagen responded by controlling possession and creating chances. Andreas Cornelius forced a point-blank save from Nicolai Flø, and Robert Silva saw a drive deflected wide, while Maxime Soulas missed at the other end on a rare away counter.
The home side leveled on the half-hour when Cornelius glanced a ball forward for Elyounoussi, who worked space and finished off the inside of the post. Flø then tipped over a powerful attempt from Silva after Mads Emil Madsen won the ball high up the pitch. With first-half pressure mounting—reflected in a clear edge in shots and corners—Copenhagen went in front deep into stoppage time. Cornelius headed a Marcos López cross back into the area, Elyounoussi set up Madsen outside the box, and the midfielder drove a left-footed strike into the roof of the net for 2-1 at the interval.
Copenhagen started the second half with another look at goal through Silva, but Sønderjyske grew into the game. Sefer Emini curled an effort onto the crossbar, and Mohamed Cherif was denied from close range by Diant Ramaj. In response, coach Bo Svensson made a triple change just after the hour, introducing Asger Sørensen, Thomas Delaney, and Viktor Dadason and adjusting the shape with Alex Král dropping to right wingback when defending.
The change paid off quickly. Král got forward to deliver a dangerous ball that was cleared, then tested Flø himself; Elyounoussi reacted first to the rebound to make it 3-1 in the 64th minute. Soon after, Dadason dispossessed Andreas Oggesen and released Elyounoussi, who was brought down by Daniel Gretarsson just outside the area. An initial penalty call was overturned by VAR to a free kick and a straight red card for the Sønderjyske defender. Flø saved Elyounoussi’s low effort from the ensuing set piece.
Thapelo Maseko replaced Silva to help secure the right side, while Král pushed higher again. Copenhagen limited Sønderjyske’s threat for the remainder and could have added to the score. Marvin Nasnas, on for Madsen, was blocked by a smart foot save from Flø after a Maseko cutback, and Dadason flashed a Delaney cross back across the face of goal. In stoppage time, Elyounoussi broke clear but shot over, missing the chance for a hat-trick.
The result keeps Copenhagen in position to move top with a win in Thursday’s rescheduled match, while Sønderjyske’s bright start faded after the interval and the dismissal.
