Fans to decide the New York Islanders’ new third jersey in an exciting final

The New York Islanders are concluding an exciting fan-driven search for their new third jersey, with the competition now down to two stunning designs. After weeks of enthusiastic voting, the final choices were introduced by forward Mathew Barzal in a team video, where he also shared his personal preference.

Finalists for the New Jersey Design

The finalists, which were selected from over 80,000 original submissions, include the Navy Lighthouse concept and the Navy Islanders wordmark design. These designs emerged from a final four that also featured the Navy Fisherman and a Navy “NY” logo, both of which have a history of being part of past uniforms.

The Navy Lighthouse jersey stands out with a deep navy base complemented by vibrant orange and teal piping. The numbers and nameplate are rendered in white with outlines in the team’s signature colors, creating a striking visual appeal.

On the other hand, the Navy Islanders jersey showcases the team name in an arched wordmark across the chest against a cream panel, accented by cream and orange stripes on the sleeves. Similar to the Lighthouse jersey, its numbers and nameplate are also white, with an eye-catching orange outline that enhances the overall design.

Mathew Barzal expressed his admiration for both concepts but leaned towards the wordmark design. He praised its unique blend of cream, orange, and blue, along with the spelled-out front, noting that it embodies the personality often found in special-event or third jerseys. This design not only resonates with the team’s heritage but also speaks to the fans’ desire for something fresh and exciting.

The final round of voting is set to take place from Tuesday, August 18, through Thursday, August 20, concluding at 5 p.m. Eastern time. Fans are eagerly anticipating the announcement of the winning design for the 2027-28 third jersey, which will also include any final adjustments to the uniform. This unveiling is expected to occur shortly after the voting period ends, marking a new chapter in the Islanders’ storied history.
