Casper Jørgensen’s thunderous free-kick delivered a 1-0 win for FC Fredericia over Esbjerg fB at Monjasa Park on Saturday afternoon.
Fredericia controlled the early stages and saw the first openings. After neat interplay with the returning Asbjørn Bøndergaard, Jonatan Lindekilde forced a save, and moments later Svenn Crone drove a low effort just wide of the far post. Despite the pressure, the match was goalless at the break.
Key Moments of the Match
Soon after the restart, Bøndergaard broke clear but lifted his finish over the bar, as the hosts kept pushing for the breakthrough. The key moment arrived in the 65th minute when Bøndergaard was fouled as he advanced on goal, prompting a straight red card for Esbjerg defender Anders Sønderskov. From the ensuing free-kick, Andreas Pyndt rolled the ball into position and Jørgensen powered his strike into the top corner.
With the man advantage, Fredericia pressed for a second. Bork Bang-Kittilsen made his debut in the 75th minute, replacing Alexander Lyng, and the Norwegian quickly found a shooting chance. Esbjerg created a couple of opportunities of their own, but goalkeeper Valdemar Birksø handled them confidently to preserve the clean sheet.
Fredericia’s lead held through to full time, securing three points. The next match is away to Kolding IF on Saturday, 12 September, in the season’s first local derby. This victory not only boosts Fredericia’s confidence but also sets the stage for an exciting continuation of the season as they aim for a strong finish.
