FC Midtjylland hires Denmark’s first formally trained groundsman as head groundsman

FC Midtjylland Appoints New Head Groundsman Morten Sylvestersen

FC Midtjylland has appointed Morten Sylvestersen as its new Head Groundsman. He will oversee the day-to-day upkeep of two new hybrid pitches at the club’s Dream99 facility in Ikast, which are scheduled to be ready by late August 2026.

Expertise in Turf Management

Sylvestersen became Denmark’s first formally certified groundsman in 2021. He joins from a similar role where he was responsible for more than 250 football pitches, including several used in the prestigious 3F Superliga. His extensive experience in turf management makes him a valuable asset to the club.

He arrives with a focus on building strong training surfaces from the start, even before the new pitches are completed. Sylvestersen has emphasized the importance of well-maintained grass for players who train on it every day. This commitment to quality will undoubtedly enhance the training experience for the FC Midtjylland squad.

The club’s sporting department views him as a specialist with long experience in turf management across both golf and football. He has previously cared for FC Midtjylland’s own pitches in Ikast and is now joining full-time to be involved throughout the construction phase of the new pitches.

FC Midtjylland has sought an in-house groundsman for years. The club expects Sylvestersen to help deliver some of the best pitches in Scandinavia and to support optimal conditions for the Superliga squad. With such expertise and dedication, fans can look forward to an exciting future for the club’s playing surfaces.
