FC Nordsjælland has agreed a long-term extension with goalkeeper Andreas Søndenbroe, keeping him at the club until the summer of 2031. This commitment reflects the club’s confidence in the young talent and his potential to develop further.
Andreas Søndenbroe: A Rising Star in Danish Football
The 18-year-old, who grew up in Farum, joined Farum Boldklub at the age of three and later switched from outfield player to goalkeeper as a U10. Søndenbroe progressed through FC Nordsjælland’s academy and was promoted to the Superliga squad in September last year. Although he has yet to make his senior debut for the club, he gained valuable experience during a loan spell with Næstved in the Danish 2nd Division, where he made eight appearances. Additionally, he has showcased his skills on the international stage, playing 23 times for Denmark at various youth levels.
The club’s football director, Alexander Riget, highlighted Søndenbroe’s impressive height, command of crosses, shot-stopping abilities, and skill with the ball. He described him as a decisive young keeper and the leading goalkeeping talent in his Danish age group. Riget noted that while Søndenbroe has clear areas to develop, he has already made significant progress. The club has outlined a detailed plan for Søndenbroe’s development, allowing him to continue building experience with the U19s and the Premier League International team while working closely with the goalkeeping coaches.
Søndenbroe expressed his delight at committing to the next five years, viewing the deal as a testament to the club’s faith in his abilities. He acknowledged that breaking through as a young goalkeeper can take time but expressed confidence in the pathway laid out for him. His long-term target is to make his Superliga debut for FC Nordsjælland, ideally at Right to Dream Park, where he hopes to inspire the next generation of footballers.
