Four American men have reached the quarterfinals at the Cincinnati Masters for the first time since 1995. Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul, Brandon Nakashima, and Frances Tiafoe are all into the last eight at the ATP Masters 1000 event in Ohio, marking the first time at least four Americans have made a Masters 1000 quarterfinal since Indian Wells in 2003.
Highlights of the Cincinnati Masters Quarterfinals
Fritz, ranked No. 9, is chasing his first Masters 1000 trophy since Indian Wells in 2022. He will face Nakashima in the quarterfinals and holds a 4-1 edge in their meetings, including wins over him earlier this year in Dallas and Washington. Nakashima, ranked No. 22, is in the midst of a breakthrough season after reaching his first Masters 1000 final last week in Montreal and now his first Cincinnati quarterfinal.
Paul advanced to the Cincinnati last eight for the first time after saving a match point to oust top seed Alexander Zverev in the fourth round. He is also seeking his first Masters 1000 crown and will meet Flavio Cobolli for a place in the semifinals.
Tiafoe returned to the Cincinnati quarterfinals for the first time since 2024, when he went on to finish runner-up to Jannik Sinner. The 17th seed upset world No. 4 Felix Auger-Aliassime in the fourth round and will play Lorenzo Musetti next.
Quarterfinal matches are scheduled for Thursday, August 20, and Friday, August 21. Paul faces Cobolli on Thursday, while Fritz, Nakashima, and Tiafoe are slated to play on Friday. This exciting lineup of matches not only highlights the talents of these American players but also showcases the increasing competitiveness of the ATP Masters 1000 circuit.
