Jonas Mandix Appointed as the Inaugural Chair of OB’s Identity Council

OB has named Jonas Mandix as the first chair of its Identity Council, a body set up to safeguard the club’s long-term direction beyond match-to-match priorities.

The Role of the Identity Council in OB’s Vision

The council was created as part of OB’s work on club identity and serves as an advisory group to the administration. It does not handle daily operations but offers perspectives to ensure major decisions align with the club’s values and long-range goals.

Mandix will lead efforts to keep attention on the long term in a sport often driven by short-term results, aiming to help the club maintain a strong foundation for years ahead.

The council looks at issues that extend beyond everyday routines, including the development of the club’s identity, the sporting style, and the values that should define OB on and off the pitch.

OB’s identity work is built around two themes: closeness to its community and ambition in its aims. Balancing these elements is seen as a way to support success in the short, medium, and long term.

Several current initiatives stem from this identity process, including the club’s identity framework, work on the team’s playing style, continued emphasis on open training sessions, and investment in a strong academy on Funen. The council has also contributed input to plans for the new stadium.

Sports director Troels Bech has highlighted the benefit of consulting the council to keep decisions aligned with the club’s identity and to guard against the pace of daily operations overshadowing long-term priorities.

A key next step is to make the council’s role more visible and to raise awareness of its work. The club aims for the council to be representative and diverse, with the goal of ensuring a robust OB for future generations.

With a chair in place, the Identity Council moves into its next phase of supporting the club’s development well beyond the coming season. This initiative not only strengthens OB’s commitment to its core values but also ensures that the club is poised for sustainable success in the competitive landscape of sports.
