Carolina moved within one win of the Stanley Cup Final by shutting out Montreal 4-0 on Wednesday in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Final, taking a 3-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
In his first season with the Hurricanes, defenseman K’Andre Miller was a standout in Montreal. The 26-year-old logged 24:41 of ice time, blocked four shots, delivered a hit, put two shots on goal, and set up Jordan Staal for the tally that made it 2-0 late in the first period. Miller now has a career-high eight postseason points, all assists, through 12 playoff games.
K’Andre Miller’s Impact on the Hurricanes
Miller arrived in Carolina last summer in a trade from the New York Rangers on July 1, 2025, in exchange for Scott Morrow, a 2026 second-round draft pick, and a conditional first-rounder in 2026 or 2027. He subsequently signed an eight-year, $60 million contract as a restricted free agent.
The journey to this point contrasts with his past playoff runs. While with the Rangers, Miller reached the conference final twice but fell short each time, with New York losing to Tampa Bay in 2022 and Florida in 2024. The Rangers had eliminated the Hurricanes in the second round in both of those years, winning in seven games in 2022 and six in 2024.
Teammates have praised Miller’s all-around impact, pointing to his mobility, reach, defensive disruption, and offensive instincts. He has become a crucial player for the Hurricanes, embodying the team’s competitive spirit. Miller has said he learned early in his career how difficult Carolina can be to play against and appreciates being part of that identity now.
Carolina can close out the series at home in Game 5 on Friday at 8 p.m. ET. Miller believes the Hurricanes’ path forward is to maintain the same intensity and approach that has carried them this far. This mindset will be essential as they aim for success in the upcoming games and ultimately, the championship.
