Kevin Krawietz in exciting Wimbledon partnership with Venus Williams

Kevin Krawietz will partner with Venus Williams in the Wimbledon mixed doubles after an initial approach to his regular men’s doubles teammate, Tim Puetz, did not lead to a pairing. Puetz was contacted first but opted out to avoid adding to his match load, and Krawietz received the invitation soon after. He has taken the circumstance in stride and is enthusiastic about teaming with the former No. 1.

Krawietz and Williams Set for Exciting Mixed Doubles Match

Krawietz and Puetz reached the men’s doubles third round on Friday, leaving Krawietz a short turnaround before beginning his mixed campaign with Williams. Their opening match is scheduled for Friday afternoon on Court 14 against Lloyd Glasspool and Tereza Mihalikova.

The 34-year-old German has been in regular contact with Williams, 46, and her husband, Andrea Preti, in the lead-up to their debut. Both Williams sisters are competing at this year’s Championships, with Serena Williams also entered in women’s doubles, underscoring their continued influence on the sport.

While Krawietz does not consider mixed doubles his specialty to the same extent as Williams, who owns two mixed major titles, he brings notable experience. He reached the Wimbledon mixed semi-finals in 2021 with Kveta Peschke and the Roland Garros mixed semi-finals in 2022 with Nicole Melichar-Martinez.

In men’s doubles, Krawietz and Puetz have captured seven tour-level titles together, including the 2024 season-ending championships. Seeded seventh at Wimbledon, they will face Francisco Cabral and Lucas Miedler in the third round.

As Krawietz and Williams prepare, fans are eager to see how their dynamic plays out on the court. The blend of Krawietz’s experience and Williams’s legendary status promises an exciting mixed doubles experience at one of tennis’s most prestigious events.
