Lyngby Boldklub appoints Johan Karlsson as the new U19 head coach

Lyngby Boldklub has made a significant move by appointing 28-year-old Swede Johan Karlsson as the head coach of the club’s U19 team on a two-year deal. In addition to Karlsson, Emil Aske Strand Hansen has been named as his assistant. The squad is set to return for its first training session on July 16, marking an exciting new chapter for the young players at the club.

Johan Karlsson’s Impressive Background

Karlsson joins Lyngby from IFK Göteborg, where he held the same coaching role and displayed his ability to elevate young talent. Under his leadership, IFK Göteborg’s U19 team topped Sweden’s U19 league and recently celebrated a stunning 5-1 victory over Djurgården in the youth cup final. This successful track record showcases his capability in nurturing talent and achieving results.

In the previous season, Karlsson also contributed to the Sweden U17 national team as an assistant coach, further expanding his coaching experience. Lyngby Boldklub has praised Karlsson as a clear and capable leader, emphasizing his expertise in preparing young players for the transition to senior football. His understanding of playing-style principles that align with the club’s academy direction is expected to enhance the day-to-day implementation of their training programs.

Assistant coach Emil Aske Strand Hansen, who is 34 years old, brings a wealth of experience to the team. He arrives from Brøndby IF, where he was the U19 girls head coach and also worked as an assistant coach for the women’s first team. His previous coaching stints include leading the U19 boys at Nykøbing FC and serving as the U19 girls head coach in Farum. Like Karlsson, Strand Hansen holds the prestigious UEFA A license, affirming his qualifications to guide young talents.

The appointment of Karlsson and Strand Hansen marks a strategic move for Lyngby Boldklub as they aim to develop their youth players and strengthen their academy programs. With a focus on nurturing young talent and a clear vision for the future, fans and players alike are looking forward to the upcoming season under this new coaching regime.
