Matteo Arnaldi reaches the fourth round at Roland Garros and plans a wedding after the US Open

Matteo Arnaldi is closing his clay-court swing on a high. The Italian, ranked No. 104 in the ATP rankings, followed a Challenger 175 title in Cagliari and a third-round run in Rome by reaching the fourth round at Roland Garros for the second time. He is one victory from his first Grand Slam quarter-final.

Balancing Love and Tennis

Away from the court, Arnaldi is a few months from marrying his fiancée, Mia Savio. The couple has been together since 2022 and navigated a long-distance start to their relationship while she completed university studies in Australia. Coming from different countries and routines, they moved in together early and have grown closer since.

Their wedding is planned for after this year’s US Open and will take place in Arnaldi’s hometown. Savio is leading most of the preparations, allowing Arnaldi to focus on competition. She often travels to events and has launched a small tennis and Pilates apparel brand, while both aim to keep their professional pursuits from overwhelming their personal life.

That balance became especially important over the past year when a persistent right foot injury forced Arnaldi to miss time, limited his practice, and even made daily tasks difficult. His ranking slipped, and earlier this season he dropped eight of nine matches across levels before reversing course with the title in Cagliari. Throughout the setbacks, Savio provided steady support, helping him maintain confidence and perspective.

Savio is expected in Arnaldi’s box when he faces Frances Tiafoe for a place in the Roland Garros quarter-finals. This important match not only represents a significant moment in his career but also highlights the couple’s strong partnership as they balance the pressures of professional sports and personal commitments.
