On his 15th birthday, midfielder Matti Bergvold signed his first contract with EfB, an agreement running until the end of 2028.

Bergvold already plays in the U17 midfield despite his age and previously represented partner club SGI. He is left-footed.

Positive Impact of Bergvold’s Contract on EfB’s Future

EfB’s head of talent, Anders Brynaa, welcomed the deal and described Bergvold as one of the leading prospects in his Danish age group. Brynaa viewed the choice to stay as notable at a time when many top young players leave early for bigger clubs, and said it reflects confidence in EfB’s development setup, including qualified coaches, individual guidance, a strong daily training environment, and close attention to each player. He highlighted the club’s balance between social life and an elite mindset as important for growth, and pointed to Bergvold’s technique, game intelligence, and passing, while emphasizing the need to keep working.

Bergvold called it a milestone day and said the contract boosts his motivation to aim for the first team at Blue Water Arena. He described feeling at home in the club, noted the investment in his development, and said the belief shown by the staff and the environment’s mix of ambition and personal growth make EfB the right place for his next steps. With his future settled, he is focused on improving and pursuing his goals.

Outside football, Bergvold is in 8th grade at VITAskolen Bohr alongside several teammates. His commitment to both academics and sports reflects a well-rounded approach to development, which is essential for young athletes striving to balance their education and athletic aspirations. As Bergvold continues to evolve, both EfB and the local football community will be watching closely, eager to see how this promising young talent will shape the future of Danish football.
